CLINTON NOTES.
+♦> FROM OUR OWN COEEESPONDKNT. TOWN BOAED. The regular monthly meeting of the Clinton Town Board was held in the Town Board Chambers on Monday, .December 1, when there were present Commissioners Brown (in the chair), Nelson, Morton and Abernethv.
Mr J. B. Calder wrote drawing the attention of the board to the bad state of drainage in front of his dwelling, which was anything but healthy.—Moved by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the clerk notify owners of private crossing that same be lifted and put in proper order to ensure good drainage.—Carried.
J. B. Eitchie wrote applying for transfer of slaughtering license from J. Bagrie to himself. —Granted.
J. B. Eitchie wrote complaining that he had received no remuneration for improvements carried out ou sections recently occupied by him.—Moved by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Morton that the sum of £5 16s, less £2 for clearing gorse and weeds, be paid for improvements.—Carried.
Captain Henderson, of the New Zealand Service Corps, applied for information regarding the number of motor cars, motor ryck-s, traction engines, etc., in Clinton town district.—Clerk reported that he had attended to same.
Adam Kerse wrote tendering his resignation as ranger for Town Board.— Moved by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Abernethy that the resignation be accepted.—Carried.
The clerk was instructed to notify ilr J. Mcintosh that ail noxious weeds on section 1, block 27, occupied by him, must be eradicated.
An application by A. Thow for a billiard-room license was declined. Constable .1. Council was appointed ranger for the Clinton Town District. Moved by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the tax on all bona fide sheep and rabbit dogs be 2s (id, and all others 10s for the year 1014.—Carried.—Mr P. H": Martin was appointed collector for same.
ft was decided that Mr Bell be asked to make all dog collars for ensuing year. Accounts amounting to £l2 0s Gd were passed for. payment.. On account-of Christmas and.-New Year holidays the next regular iionthly meeting has been postponed till Monday, January' 12, 1914. A meeting of the Cemetery Board was held at the conclusion of the Town Board meeting, when an account for £1 7s was passed for payment.
