The residents of Puerua district intend entertaining Mr A. Morton and family at a complimentary social upon his retirement from farming, December 2 being the date fixed. Rev. George Miller, of Milton, lias received a call to the charge of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Ashburtou.
At tlio conclusion of tlie examination of tlio ambulance class conducted at Waiwera by Dr HotO[>, Mr McKinuoii (school teacher) took the opportunity, on behalf of the members, of presenting the doctor with a brief bag in recognition of the services he had so freely given ami the energetic way in which he hp11 assisted their class. Or Hotop suitably replied.—Clinton correspondent.
On Wednesday evening last the members of the Ahuriri Bible (.'lass paid a visit to .Mrs W. McLean and family ami made tlieni each a. presentation as mementoes of their association with the class and of their loyal interest in the affairs of the congregation generally. Mr McLean (home missionary) expressed, on behalf of the class, the keen regret, which was felt by all at the departure of Mrs McLean ami her daughters; they belonged to that class of members which no association could lose without the loss being J'elt. Mr AV. Leslie, in a very appropriate speech, then presented to each of the ladies, in the name of their fellow-members, a suitable volume, and expressed the hope that, wherever they made their future home, they would find a new circle of friends, although, as in the case of Mrs McLean, this wag not easy after forty years' residence in one district.
