CLUTHA ROAD BOARD
This Board met at Warepa on Saturday when there was a full attendance of members. Mr Dalgliesh presided. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved of. The Clerk read a reply from the resident engineer, Public Works Office, Dunedin, asking what length of fence the Board wished to be erected along the Riverside road. It was resolved to ask the Board's engineer to visit and report on the fence, and to forward his opinion to the proper quarter. It was resolved that the engineer prepare plans and specifications for works on the Riverside road, not to exceed LIOO, it being understood that LSO would be granted by the County Council by way of subsidy. . It was resolved that 10 or 12 chains of motal be laid on that portion of Shaw's track running eastward from Marr's conI tract, and that the .school road between ! Ayson's fences be metalled. The engineer was also, on the motion of Mr Christie, requested to report on the road between Hudson's and Greig's. On the motion of Mr M'Neil, it was resolved that from Ist November to Ist May the surfaceman's wages be at the rate of 85 per diem. Tenders having been opened the following were accepted : — Major's road (between Lamond and Dalgleish), Geo. Bain, formation, 10s, and metalling, L 2 19s per chain ; Major's road (between Young's and Begg and Sheddan's), George Paulin, earthwork, L4O, metal, L 4 15s per chain ; White Flat road, Hunter and Bentley, Stirling, formation, L 29 10s, and metal L 4 per chain ; Station road at Falconer's, George Smith, earthwork, L 6 8155, metal, li 4 1 5s per chain. . =_ ■ The .Board Treßolved to advertise afresh for. the, remaining works, and to meet again on 16th current to reeeive?tenders for the same, including the new works which have just been resolved on.
