BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
• •*» A meeting of the Board of Conservators for Inch Clutha was held on Monday evening. There were present Messrs Mosley (chairman), Anderson, M'Donald, Bell, and Smaill. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Crown Lands Office, Wellington, intimating the Governor's approval of the appointment of the members for the first Board of Conservators for Inch Clutha River District, and referring to notice of same in the Provincial Gazette. — Received. Messrs Anderson, Bell, and Smaill reported having called on most of the ratepayers in respect to their giving land free for banking, and that all agreed to give the land required. It was' moved by Mr Anderson, and seconded by Mr M'Donald— " That the Clerk be instructed to write to Messrs Heid and Duncan, engineers, Dunedin, j asking them to modify their charges in respect to expenses, and to inforni them . that 5 per cent on the estimated cost of works is vague, but that the Board is willing to treat with them at 5 per cent on the actual cost of works. " — Agreed to. The Chairman read a letter from the manager of the Colonial Bank, Balclutha, in reference to funds. — Received. The meeting then adjourned.
