<t» Messrs Maclean Beothebs report for the week ending July 10, as follows : — Fat Cattle.— The number forward for the week's supply -viz., 108 head— was short of requirements, and although nearly all were ordinary to inferior quality, prices obtained were - *. the highest of the season, best quality bringing ,•;*: up to 37s 6d per 1001 b ; inferior, 27s 6d to ___$',- besfc bullocks fetched £13 10s to LIB ; do q__H_' £8 to £10 2s 6d ; inferior, £7 10s to £9. Ass» yards we sold 3(i head at quotations. Primely we have placed 40 head. Fat Calves. — Only eight forward, which we sold at 40s to 60s each. Fat Sheep. — 2485 were penned, chiefly crosgbreds of good quality, for which thero was fair competition. Prices, however, were a shade easier than last week. Best cross-breds brought 14s 9d to 16s 9d each . medium, lis to 13s. A. few vory heavy three-quarter breds made 21s each. Merinoes, from 6s 6d to 9b 6d. We quote prime mutton at 3.|d per lb. At the yards we sold on account of Messrs Turnbull and Samson, 500 cross breds at from 13s 9d to 15s. On Wednesday next we shall offer a choice, draft of merinoes, on account of Messrs Parker, Waimate. Pigs.— l9s were penned, which sold as follows : —Store pigs, 18s to 25s : fat do, £2 10s to £3 10a — or equal to about :->__d per lb. Store Cnttle. — We have no sales to report. The severity of the weather and consequent scai'city of feed render the market dull. Quotations nominal. Country Sales. — On Friday, sth inst., we held a clearing sale at Clinton, on account of Mr H. M'Kenzie, when, notwithstanding very inclement weather, there was a fair attendance, and satisfrctory prices wore obtained throughout. Property.— On Saturday, 13th hist., we shall offer a valuable farm in the Kaihiku district on account of Bobert Doull, Esq., also a number of sections in Greytowu in tho immediate vicinity of the Railway Station. Wool. -The following cablegrams have been received : London, July 6, — The wool sales closed with a firm tone. The general average shows an increase of from 10 to 12 per cent, on the opening rates. The principal advance was in medium. For Australian, the prices were unsteady, 310,000 bales were catalogued, whereof 4*4.000 were held over until next sales, and 155,000 bales were exported. The next series will commence on August 00. The total quantity to-be offered is 330,000 bales. Sheepskins. — We had but a small catalogue for offer on Monday last. Competition, however, was brisk and last week's rates were fully maintained. Hides continue in good request, and are worth 4d per lb for sound wet salted. Tallow. — We ofEered 15 casks good mutton tallow, but there was very little competition, and the lot was passed in. Grain.— The wheat market has been characterised by great' dulness during the past week, and sales have been limited to small parcels of choice for mixing. We quote prime quality at 4s 3d; ordinary to good, 3s lid to 4s 2d j inferior, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats have been in fair request at about last week's quotations, viz., Milling 4s ; good to heavy feed, 3s lOd to 3s lid. Barley unchanged. Mr A. Meroer reports for the week ending July 10, as follows : — Retail prices only.— Fresh butter in Jib and lib prints, ls 8d to Is 10 per lb; fresh butter in lumps, Is 6d per lb ; powdered aud salt butter, Is 3d per lb.. Fresh butter is now very scarce, and some of it very inferior ; salt butter in kegs, lOd to lid per lb; and the market is well supplied. Cheese, best quality, lOd per lb j side and rolled bacon, lOd per lb ; Colonial hams, la; English hams, ls 2d to Is 4s per lb; (no demand) English cheese, ls 4cl per lb ; (no demand). Eggs are very plentiful, and falling in price, aDd retailing at 2s 2d to 2s 4d per doz.
