TOKOMAIRIRO FARMERS CLUB.
A meeting of the Tokomairiro Farmers Club was held in the Commercial Hotel, Milton, on Wednesday evening. There were present Messrs James Duthie (President), Gordon (Secretary), Capstick, Hislop, M'Donald, lngles, Murray, Porter, Sutherland, Black, Salmond, Lindsay, and Hewitson. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Messrs J. and J. Sutherland, complaining of not having received a medal awarded them in class 1, at the late Show. The Secretary reported that " commended " only was entered in the Judges' pass-book. After discussion, Mr Capstick moved, and Mr Murray seconded, " That a medal be given Messrs Sutherland." An amendment was moved by Mr Lindsay, and. seconded' by Mr Inglis, "That no medal be given." .V : '7 The motion was carried; / ? : A letter was read . ;frpm the Secretary to
the Northern Association, with reference to establishing a National Agricultural and Pastoral Society. After a discussion, it waa moved by Mr Murray, and seconded by Mr Inglis— "That the proposition of the Northern Agricultural aud Pastoral Association has tlie favourable wishes of tho Tokomairh-o Farmers' Club, who will co-operate in carrying out the same." The motion was carried. An account— G. and J. Young, L 45 2a 3d— was passed for payment. The Secretary reported' that the lease of the Club Reserve would expire on .the 31st inst. It was agreed that the ground be drained and ploughed, the Committee to carry out the work. It was moved by Mr Hislop, seconded by Mr Inglis, and carried— " That a ploughing match be held this year, on the 3rd of July." Messrs Black, Paton, and Hewitson were appointed a sub-committee to make all necessary arrangements. Messrs Capstick, Inglis,. and the Secretary were appinted to solicit subscriptions for prizes for the match. The Secretary called attention to the desirabiHty of taking steps by purchase or bonus to seoure a really good draught' horse to travel the district next season. He suggested- that a special meeting of all interested be called to consider the matter. After a discussion, it waa agreed to hold a Bpecial meeting to take steps in tho matter. The meeting then adjournecl.
