SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The "usual meeting of the Balcluthdi ■School "Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. There were present : Messrs M'Neil (chairman), Paterson, Hogg, Bain, and Hopo. The minuteß of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Grigor, teacher, reported that ho had got from Mr D. Sutherland, on bo(lialf of the Town Council, twenty pine trees to fill up the Wanks on the schoolgrounds. He was authorised to purchase a few more to complete the planting. The Secretary laid on the table copy of I the new Education Bill now before the Assembly. After a discussion the following resolution Was passed on the motion of Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Hogg — That this Committee approves of the principles and the provisions of the new Education Bill generally, and trusts that the measure will, 'either in its present shape or in a modified form, pass during this session. That a copy of the foregoing resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Justice. There was no other business.
