HEARD PLANE AND THEN A ROAR
• WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. A late report of hearing an aircraft overhead, which may have been the missing Moth, was rece'iyed tonight by the Air Search
Centre, Wellington. A roadman, Mr. C. ' Cole, at Moeawatea, 28 miles north of Waverley, heard what he thought. was an aircraft qverhead about 3 p.m.. Shortly afterwards he heard a '^noise like thunder. " A police party of seven will feave •Wanganui and Patea tomorrow fqr the area to investigate the report. Oue plane from Ohakea will also' malte a low level seareh of the. area. 5, ; According to the Wanganui police, the pilot of the missing plane. intended to fly along the coast, circling to the \yest ot Egmont- and keeping over the water. Late. tonight only three reports of a plane .had been received in Wellington. Anyon who sighted the missing aircraft is asked to communica'te" immediately with the police. The plane had a red fuselage witlr silver wings and tail,' its- identification numbers were ZK-AHZ.
