Full-time President For Watersiders' Union?
AUCKLAND, Dee. 21. The national president of the Nev\ Zealand and the Auckland WatersidiWorkers ' Union since 1944, Mr H. Barnes will, it is reported, hecome full time president at a reinuneration ot £750 a year plus expenses. This decision is understood to have been made at the biennial conference of the union last week in Wellington. No statement has been made by the union. Mr Barnes was recently returned unopposed as the national president for two more years when two other nominees unexpeetediy withdrew. The appoiutment of a full time president ap parently indieates that the union anticipates heavier demauds in the future ou the time of the oecupant of that office. It is reported the cliange wili take effeet from the end of March.
