Softball Association Given Use Of Domain

Tn reply to a request from the Horowhenua Softball Association, the Levin Borough Councii, at a meeting this week, granted permission to the association to use the Levin Park Domain on January 23 * for a tournament among local and visiting teams, In its letter the association said that the Horowhenua Cricket Association was not using the ground on that date. He feared the ground might be damaged by the association said the borough overseer, Mr. E. Lycette, during discussion of the request. The. Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, commentsd that the councii had already gone to the trouble and expense of obtaining a ground for the sole use of the association. He thought that if permission was granted an undertaking should be given that the cricket pitches would not be interfered' with in the laying out of the ground -for, the tournament. Cr. A. W. Parton moved that the necessary permission be given. It was seconded by Cr. R. S. Antcliff, who said that a proviso could be added that the ground be left in the same condition as it was found. It was decided to grant permission along these lines, the laying out of the ground to be supervised by the borough overseer.
