HonoUr For School. The R. A, Nicol Shiel'd for the best home gardens has been won this -year by Otaki School. This award is competed for annualiy by schools throughout the district. At the 'break-up ceremony on Friday congratulations were offered by the Mayor, Mr. C. F. Atmore, and by the headmaster, Mr. O. H. E. Yates, to the pupils who had played a .part in securing this coveced award: Beach Patrol Planned. The Paekakariki Life Saving and Surf Club is preparing to zone Ihe beach in its area and to install a life-saving line. The club announced this in a letter to the Hutt, County Council asking for the council's direction and comments. The council decided yes-? ■ terday to meet part of- the club's financial requirements. • The zoned area would be patrolled by 'club members, said the letter, in -an effort to prevent a repetition^.'jof the drowning fatality that occiif-; red at the south end of the beach' last summer. ..
