Removal Of Metal Endangers Beach Section

Complaining that a large amount of shingle removed from the seaward side of his section at the corner of Sea and Camp Roads, Te Horo Beach, exposed it to incursion from the sea, a letter from a Johnsonville resident was received at a meeting of the Horow'henua County Council on Friday. The council was responsible for the removal of much of the shingle, said the letter. Besides rendering the section open to danger from erosion, the removal of the metal had enlarged the chances of a break through on the' other side of the property by the Mangonui Stream. It was possible that other properties would also he involved. After a brief discussion the . matter was referred to the councillors for the riding and the engineer for investigation.
