County Council Supports Queen Carnival

Commenting on a letter received from the joint committee _ which is sponsoring a queen carnival on beha.f of the Levin-Waitarere Surf Club and the St. John Ambulance Brigade, the chairman of the Horowhenua County Council, Mr: A. M. Colquhoun, at a meeting of that body, said that the council should give the matter of a donation its serious consideration. Boxh bodies did- a goo'd deal for the puhlic. "As far as the St. John Ambulance is concerned, its* work is most apparent. Hardly a sports gathering goes by without the attendance of some members of the organisation," he continued. "A life-saving club is an amenity we have needed for a long time, and we should realise that it is going to be a great help on our beaches," the chairman concluded. The council was in complete sympathy with the chairman's remarks and resolved to make a donation of £10 10s to the carnival funds.
