N.Z. Member Of King's Guard Home On Leave
WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. The only New Zealander eYer to be appointed to His Maj esty's b'o'dyguard and a member of the Honburable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, Colonel H. G. Grace, of Blenheim, returned to New Zealand 011 the Monowai today after an absenbe Of 23 years. By virtue of' his appointmenL ' which he took up on retirement from t?he Indian Cavalry in 1-936, Cblon-el Grace is a member of the .King's p'ensonal bousehold. His duties include attending on His ^lajesty on State occasions. .The corps is 30 strong. : : In 1903, Colonel Grace, then at . Nelson College, obtained one of two ' eadetships i'n the British Army ivailable from New Zealand. He went to Sandhurst and thence to ndia where he rose to-The comaand of the famous cavalry unit, ^robyns Horse. A grand'son of the J,ev. T. S. Grace, pioheer missionary at Taupo, Colonel Grace will spend most of his six months^ leavein New Zealand. He is accompanied by Mrs. Grace.
