In respdnse to a qu'ote for a ,supply of electricity for the' Mr- ' ther electrification of the Mdin Trunk railway, which was recent,ly supplied to the Railways Departmen't hy the Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power Bo-ard, a letter from the department received yesterday hy the Power Bqard, stated 'that, the hoard's tarlff of Govern- ' ment standard rates, plds 5 per cen'fc. plus 12-h per cent. per annum bn capital outlay was too: high to make railway eleCtrificatibn eeonomic at the present time. Maori Agricultural Gollege. A Maorf agficUltuial college is to be hui 14 hy, the_"Lafcter-Day Saints Church in the Waikato. It will replace a siihiiar college in; Hdwke's :Bay which was destrqyed hy the iearthquake iri 1931.
