A Commonweaith ec'onomic conferehce is likely to" be c'ohvehed withln a few months of the Commonweaith ■ Foreigri • Ministers' round-table meeting in Ceylon next month, says ReuteN's diploriiatic ; correspondent. Both the internal and exteru-al aspects- of Commonweaith eeonomic policy are due for discussion at the Ceylon conference, which will open onManuary 9, but the' talks there will be at the PfSeial level only. Politicai circles here underS'tand ehat one of the most important opfes- will be the sterling area's doilar position. Representatives of the British Treasury and their counferparts from the other Commonweaith nations will study the effect so far Of the decisions taken by the Commonweaith Finance Ministers at their eonference in Lond'on last July. 1 The London eonference decided .to recommend the Commonweaith Gover'nments to follow Britain's lead by cutting doilar imports at 'the rate of 25 per cent. y early The Ceylon eonference will pro,vide the opportunity for a study of the doilar position with particular : reference to the "effects of devaluation by Brirain and other member countries on Commonweaith trade with the hard currency areas.
