Section Offered To Plunket Society For Rooms
The' generous offer of a section on which to build new rooms has been made to the Levin Plunket Society by Mr. H. Phillips. This was reported to the society's committee by the president, Mrs. W. Smaill, at its final • meedng for the year. It 'was decided that a l'etter be sent to Mr. Phillips, thanking him for his. interest and handsome gift. Mrs. Smanl extended a special welcome to a number bf ladies, ■not members of the committee, who had helped with the annual collection and were present at the meeting. Apologies for absence
were received from the Shannon sub-branch and Mesdames Holdaway, Kernohan and Lancaster. The treasurer, Mrs., A. Sutton, reported that the amount contributed in the house-to-house canvass was £306 10s 4d, a record. Following the business, Mrs. Smaill welcomed Mrs. Pe'tersen, of Palmerston North, a member of the society's Dominion council, and invited her to present a long seiwice i certificate to Mrs. Keedwell. Mrs. Petersen complimented Mrs. Keedwell on her record of service to the society. She said that it was by the work of women like Mrs. Keedwell that the society had achieved so much. Replying, Mrs. Keedwell said that although she had retired from active membership, she would always follow the society's work and have its interests at heart. Afternoon tea followed, affording members the opportunity of meeting Mrs. Pe.ersen. The next meeting is to be held on February 6.
