This deeision was reached after a lengthy discussion on an Auckland motion at tonight's meeting of the New Zealand Tennis Association and will come into operation as from next season. Mr. S. G-. Wright (Auckland) moved the motion which was supported by delegates from Wellington, Ganterbury, Hutt Valley, Southland and Manawatu. Speakers opposing the motion considered it untvise as many players did not , necessarily make good umpires. There was nothing worse than playing under a bad umpire, Moreover, a spell of umpiring could easily . have a detrimental effect on a player. Mr. P. S. Ramson (Hutt Valley) considered the motion moved would help to rectify the bad example being set by a few players. .
