Poroutawhao W.I.'s Monthly Meeting
The November meeting bf the Poroutgwhao Women 's Institute | was presided over by Mrs. ScoLt. T'he motto, read by Mrs. Vickers, was: "The happiest period in- life is when we make someone else happy." Entries for the Horowhenua show were discussed. It was resolved to forward the proceeds from the October saies table to the fund for leosrs. The kind ofier; of Mrs. Speirs for the institute to hold its children's Christmas partv in her ground,s was accep'ted, and; members were asked to \take a plate of cakes and k sandwiche^.: Mrs. C. L§wis gave a demonstration on floral work, this being: muc'h enjoyed by members. Mrs. Scott made a small, presentation to her as a token of appreeiation. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Tait and: Vickers. Competitions resulted as follows: — BlQom: Mrs. Speirs 1, Mrs. Penny 2, Mrs. Scott 3. Shrub: Mrs. Speirs 1, Mrs. Lumsden 2, Mrs. Sloan 3. Vegetable; Mrs. Sr.ei^s 1, Mrs. Lumsden 2. Rock cakes: Mrs. Vickers 1, Mrs. Penny 2, Mrs. Lumsden 3.
