Timber Mill Demolished By Fire Near Taupo
AUCKLAND, Nov. 20.. Fire destroyed a timber mill owned by New Zealand Forest Products at Atiamuri yesterday afternoon. Situate.l about a mile from Atiamuri on the niain road to Taupo, the mill was built a couple of years ago. It is now a total loss. No standing forest was lost in the fire and none, of the mill 6 workers ' homes was burned. Maintenance work was being done in the mill when the fire broke out. About 60 men were employed in the mill which had an output of between 5, 000, 0j30 and 6,000,000 feet of sawn timber yearly. The company has no other mill nearby to deal with that stand of timber.
