HEAVY DAMAGE BY FIRE IN FACTORY
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 20. Damage running into thousands of pounds was done to buildings and stock by fire in the premises of Rex Leathercrafts, 2 Vietoria Street, soon after 4 p.m. on Saturday. Heavy stocks of leather and partly finished articles were destroyed or made useless. The fire brigade made an almost complete save of the valuable machinery and within an hour had the fire under control. Part of the building is oceupied by G. W. Logan, furriiture manufacturer, and the New Zealand Trotting Calendar but they were protected by a brick wa-11 and suffered practically no damage.
