Notable Performances At Wanganui Athletics

WANGANUI, Nov. 20. A feature .of the ahtletie inter-club contest on Cook's Gardens on Saturday evening between the Wanganui and Wellington Athletic Clubs, was the appearance of P. Henderson (Wanganui), New Zealand sprint champion and All Black wing three quarter. Henderson won the 100 yards in 10 1-5 seeonds, beating F. W. Duckworth (Wellington). D. Hawke (Wanganui) was third. Henderson and Duckworth ran a dead-heat in ,the 220 yards. The Wanganui runner had a slight lead catering the straight but Duckworth caught him. The time was 23.6 seeonds. Wanganui won the inter-club contest by 192 points to 50. The Wanganui women athletics were not matched by Wellington, Wanganui gaining 53 points to Wellington 's one. Two West'Coast (North Island) tecords were established and one equalled. Five Wanganui Club reeords were established. E. Couchman won the women 's shot putt with 30 feet 8 inches, a West Coast and club record. P. Montague won the 80 metres women 's hurdles in 12.9 seeonds, equal to the West Coast record. R. McPhun won the pole vault with 10ft. 3in., a new club record. K. Forsythe won the hop, step and jump with 45ft. llin., a club record. I. Serviee won the junior javelin with 142ft. 4in., a club record. P. Montague also won the women 's 220 yards in 26.8 seeonds, a West Coast and club record.
