Airmen Return To N.Z. From Britain
AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. Two New Zealand airmen with long serviee records overseas, returned from England in the linef Rimutaka o whieh arrived at Auckland today. They are Flight Lieutenant G. V. Grones, of Henderson, who has been oveTseas since 1942, and Flight Lieutenant H. W. Shilton D.F.C., of Rangiora, who has been away since 1943. Both returned with English wives. They had been in Nq. 24 Commonwealth Squadron since 1947 aad had taken part in the Berlin air Wlt. A third member of the party in the Rimutaka was Flight Lieutenant L. J. McLean, of Southland, who has also been in the Commonwealth Squadron since its inception in 1947 and was on the Berlin air lift for seveu months. The three men were members of the first twro crews to be supplied to the squadron by^ew Zealand.
