The principle points in the reguiations for the operation of a 'douibles totalisator, whieh were issued today by the New Zealand Racing Conference, are: Firstly, "double" shall mean any two races other than divisions .or consecutive races run on the same day of ahy race me'eting whieh a club shall declare; (This does not prevent a club conducting more than one "double" in one day, but it is likely that in the " mean time clubs will run only one suoh double). Secondly, unit investment on Lhe "doubles" totalisator shall be 5s or such multiple thereof as the club shall declare. (It is probahle that the ihvestment unit will be 10s in all eases). Thirdly, .the doubles totalisator shall be eonducted so that there shall be a s'eparate pool from the pool of any other totalisator operating on one race only- and the amount available . for dividend shall be the total invested less authorised deductions. The double shall be declared and published as soon as practicable after the clcsing of acceptanfees and will close simultaneously with the other totalisator operating on each race of the double. An investor on a doubles totalisator will first purchase a ticket on his selection for the first of the two races in the double an'd he may purchase as many tickets as he wishes on one or more horses, but he will hot be permitted to place a toet On any horse in the second race of the double until the first race is decided. The holder of a doubles ticket on the winnihg horse in the first race will then return to the doubles totalisator and exchange his ticket or tickets on the winning horse for a* ticket or tickets on his choice for the second race of the double. For his ticket oh the second "leg" the doubles investor will not have to make any further payment. (In either of the races of the double the following will be taken into account: A ticket on No. 6 in the first or second races of a 'double will automatically entitle the investor to a full interest in No. 6A if there are two horses running under the same number; In t'he event of a dead-iheat in the second race, the amount available for the dividend shall be divided into as many equal parts as there are horses in in the dead-heat whieh have been backed ^ .
