SHANNON TROUNCE KUKU JUNIORS
Playing in the junior competition, Shannon secured an eight point win over Kuku. In their first innings Shannon made 196, the highlight being a fine knock by J. Roberts for 89. G. McEwen (35), R. Parr (22), A. Seaton (20) and G. Clough (11) were the other double figure scorers. Six of the wickets fell to I. Horn for 52, while H. Moore captured three. The Kuku batsmen failed against the good Shannon bowiing i and were all jback in the pavilion for 48. I. Horn, with 15, was the only one to make a stand. Roberts took six wickets for 15. Forced to follow on Kuku fared even worse, being all out for 21. Roberts took five of the wickets, V. Tippler three and A. -Seaton one, Otaki's Success. i Otaki B f ound* no difficulty with College B, gaining an eight point win by an innings and 44 runs. College wer? the first to visit the wicket, but were soon back in the pavilion with only 15 runs on the board. Templey collected seven wickets for 7 runs and Roach two for 6. Otaki's innings yielded a total of 109, Julius with 33 being top scorer. Other batsmen who went well were A. Cook and G. Hughes with, 20 runs each. Bowiing for College, Frederikson took two wickets for 5 runs and Ramsden two for 29. College fared slightly better with their second use of the wicket, mahaging a total of 40 runs. Julius was again prominent in the bowiing and captured three wickets at a cost of 3 runs. { Others were Roach, who took three fbr 7, and Templey two fqr 4.
