Carnival Float.
On the recommendation of the public relations and power supply committee, the Auckland Electric Power Board allocated £500 for the purpose-of entering a decorated float in the carnival to be held in Auckland before the Empire Games. Some members criticised the proposal, contending £500 was too much to spend on a float. The acting-chairman , Mr. J. A. Steele, said that it was up to the board to put on a good show. It was, he added, a unique occasion for the city, and the cost of the float was not likely to reaeh £500.
