Extension To Levin Borough Boundary Sought

Motorists who contemplate again testing the legality of exceeding the 30 m.p.h. speed limit on the county side of a borough mad, as was successfully managed in Masterton recently, may find this plan forestalled in regard to Levin in the future. The Levin Borough Council last night 'decided to apply to the Local Government Commission for an extension of the borough boundaries to include a strip of 24 chains deep along each of the boundary roads. The council, however, was not principally out to frustrate the local' speed kings. Acting on a recommendation from the works committee, it was planning to bring into the borough those properties which skirt the present boundary. There is always the possibility that the Commission, when it sits in this district, may order a further extension as it has done in other cases throughout New Zealand.
