LULL BEFORE THE STORM ON CHINA'S BATTLEFRONTS
LONDON, Oct. 30. Reuter's Hongkong correspondent says the lull on China 's major battlefronts continues as the Communist Migli Gommand masses for the invasion of S/.eclnvan, Ivweiehow and Kwangsi pi'ovinces. General Peng Te Iluai 's Red armies are poising in Fouthern Ivansu and Soutttern Shensi for any advance into Szechwan for the north. General Lin Piao's forces are slowlv but steadily advancing towards the Szechwan border from the Northwest Hunan while other columns are striking towards Kweichow border- from South west Hunan. ported to be lannehing a major attack on Liencheng, twenty miles from the J Kweichow border. | Tf Liencheng fall9 General Lin Piao's forces will be able to turn northward j along the serviceable highway linking Chungking with Southwest China. In South China. General Clien Keng's troops are advancing westward along the West River closing in on Wuehow T20 miles west of Canton. Ghen Iveng's columns in Southern Kwangtung reached a point seven miles from KwongChowwan, the last' remaining Nationalist port of the- Ivwangtung coast in I.iuchow Peninsula.
