Play Begins On R.S.A.'s New Bowling Green
Some 40 members and intending members, with their friends, were present at the first day of play on the newly-constructed R.S.A. bowling green. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs.. W. Lett and Messrs E. J. Stanley and L. S. Abbott, of the Levin Boys' Training Centre. Also present were some 40 boys from the centre without whose assistance the green might never have been completed this season. The boys had a most enjoyable day out, were liberaily supplied with eats and iook part in the bowling during the afternoon. The green was in excellent order for the first day of play. The president of the club, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, welcomed all present and referred to the outstanding work of the boys of the Levin Training Centre. He said it was a pleasure to have them as guests that day and also Mrs. Lett, who had generously donated the section to the club. During Saturday afternoon the members of the new club held a meeting at which it was reported that the club had been duly incorporated. A most pleasant item of business was ' the election to honorary life membership fob outstanding service to the club of Mrs. Lett and Messrs^ . Stanley, Abbott and C. W. Foster. The green, it was stated, would now be open for play for the remainder of the season. The green will -be officially opened on Saturday, November 26, wiien the president of the N.Z.R.S.A., Major- General Sir Howard Kipperiberger, and the Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, Mr. A. J. Harper, will be in attendance.
