AFCKLAXD, Oct. 12. ■ After posing as a detective, Donald Gordon Bray, single, was arrested yesterdav and appeared bet'ore the Police Court today. ' t Senior Detective Finlav said Bray visited the Cornwall Hospital and told several male nurses he was on lioliday. He knew one of them was having domestic trouble and told hini he could get evidence to enable him to obtain a divorce. The man paid him £4 10s to cover the cost. Detective Finlav also srated that Bray visited a Chinese, posing as a pilot on a commereial plane flving between Xew Zealand and Singapore. He said he had 7i lbs. of opium in the left luggage office. Taking the Chinese to that- office, he handed him a parcel and asked £300 for it. The Chinese, wide awake, opened the parcel and found two old reading books. Bray then said he was a meniber of the police fosce and would see that the Chinese was se,ntenced to two years' imprisonnient for trading in opium. Detective Finlav added that Brav was once before the court for illegally weaving an air force uniform. His people were highly resjieetable. "If I give you a chance will you „ settle down to work and beliave yourself?" the Magistrate, Air. J. Morling, asked Bray. Bray: Yes, Sir. Bray was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution of the £4 10s.
