IHAKARA'S MEETING
All members attending the October meeting of the Ihakara Women's Institute were asked to bring a tin of fat for inelusion in the food parcel being sent to the institute's link in England. Members were reminded that the meeting 'day next month had been changed to November 12 in order to avoid a clash with . counter attraetions. ' Delegates appointed to attend the council meeting on October 19 were Mesdames McLean and Gardiner. During the afternoon Miss Coleman, of Horowhenua College, gave a most interesting talk on home craft. As a mark of the institute's appreciation she was _ presented with a -gift of ftowers It was announced that the points competition for November was to be a Christmas novelty, the cost not to exceed three shili lings. Competition results for the afternoon were as follows: — Flowers: Mrs. Doyle 1, Mrs. Elliot 2, Mrs. McLean 3. Shrubs: Mrs. Eilliot 1, Mrs. Rolston 2, Mrs. Haslock 3. Vegetables: Mrs. Trotter 1, Mrs. Haslock 2. Points: Mrs. Rolston 1, Mrs. Taylor 2, Mrs. Doyle 3. Social competitions: Miss Forsyth and Mesdames Taylor and Hall. * The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Humphrey, Trotter and Taylor. ^
