Mr. J. J. Maher To Open Gala At School
The State School gala day tomorrow will be - officially opened at 2.30 p.m. by Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., who has signified his wiilingness to attend and carry out this 'duty. The opening ceremony will follow the chlldren's fancy dress procession, which. is scheduled to leave the Family Hotel corner at 2 p.m. • Another enthusiastic. meeting held on Wednesday reported that, given a' fine day, the event should be an outstanding success. Judges for the fancy dress procession were appointed and it Was 'decided that prizes be awarded to first, second and third best entries in the various classes, with numerous special prizes also. A silver mug was donated to be awarded .to the baby judged champion at the - baby show, and prizes of 10s first and 5s second were agreed on for this efature event. Stallholders agreed to be on the site early to receive goods, and a telephone assistant to take phone messages will be in attendance from 9.30 a.m. onwards. The sum of £126 7s lOd, it was reported to the meeting, had been banked to date.
