French President To Meet Party Leaders
Convriaht )
Received Friday, 10.10 a.m. PARIS, October 6. (The decision of the President of ^rance, M. Vincent Auriol, to aciept the resignation of Dr. Henri ^ueuille's Cabinet was announced from the President's country home :oday. He returns to Paris this svening to begin conversations vith the party leaders on the formation of a new Government. M. Auriol said he ' had sent an urgent appeal to Dr. Queuille last aight urging him to reconsider his proposed action and remain in Dffice. Dr. Queuille replied that the serious division in his Cabinet over the wage price policies, which foliowed the recent wave of devalua-. tion, made it impo.ssible for him to hold his Government together. It is believed that M. Auriol will p,sk the Socialists — probably M. Paul Ramadier, a former Prime Minister, or the former Minister of the Interior, M. Jules Moch — to attempt to form a Cabinet. If they fail the choice wouid go to the Popular Republicans, probably M. Robert Schuman, also a - former Prime Minister. The President has arranged to see the President of the Assembly, M. Edohard Herriot, and the two leading Communists, M. Maurice Thorez and M. Jacques DDuclos. ' The Catholic Labour Union Federation today issued an appeal to the Communist and Socialist-led unions to join in the common front and present the new Government with a united demand for wage increases.
