WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. Opposition to the payment of a sustenance allowance to former prisoners of war for the period of their captivity was voieed by a conference of Commonwealth ex-servicemen in Ottawa, said the Dominion president of the R.S.A. (Sir Howarjl Kippenberger) on his return to Wellington from the conference. ' ' The acceptance and adoption of such a proposal would set a dangerous precedent, ' ' said Sir Howard. ' 1 It would put a premium on being a prisoner of war if anotlier war caine, and would pave the way for Claims for sucb things as danger money. " He added that the suggestion for an . aljowance had eome from the Austra- ■ ' lian delegation.
