Personal. Mrs. M. Waterson, pf Carterton, is spending a few days as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hyde and Mrs. E. Retter, Jiflyan Street. Mlss Joyce Pigott, of the local post office staff, has recommenced duties after being absent for the past two weeks on annual leave. Industry For Shannon. .A start is being made by a Wellington firm of cardboard cartbn manufacturers to transf orm the former Druids' Hall into a factory. The firm has already commenced to assemble smaller sections of its plant at Shannon, but heavier equipment is still aboard ship ,at Wellington and will be transported here as soon as it is unloaded. Extensive alterations are to be made to the building to accommodate the heavy machinery. The proprietors hope to commence manufacture ^without delay. Shannon, is indeed- fortunate in having this new in'dustry, and thanks are due to the Mayor, Mr. D. A. Fitzgerald, and members of the industries committee of the Shannon Borough Council for their enterprise in interesting the firm of the possibilities offered in Shannon.
