Free Wine Causes Crowd To Surge Wildly
Received Monday, 9.10 a.m. LONDON, October 2. The United Press Rome correspondent says thatvriot squads had to be called out at Marino, just outside Rome, today to hold back a crowd that surged towards a fountain spoiiting red and white wine. Marino is celebrating its capture by the Colonna family from the Orsini family in the Afteenth century. Tradition lays it down that the fountain is to flow wine every year. Crowds from Rome have been pouring into Marino all the weekend to get a free drink at the fountain. All went well until thirsty people behind began to fight those in front. Special riot squads from Rome restored order and then kept everybody away from the fountain.
