» Novel means yjeve employe.d by a Hastings man to overcome a transport problem during the height of a cloudburst. Because of the heavy ruhq it was practically impossihle to engage a taxi. The man switched his call to a Hastings carrier. The carrier ar.rived, but when told that he had been calle'd to take the man to his home, replied tha,t he was not permitted fo act as a taxi and so qould not ohlige. Not to be beaten, the man made up a small parcel of his tobacco pouch, and told the carrier that the "parcel" was to be delivered to his home. The owner of the pouch paid for its defivery at the-normal rates 'and accompanied it as an unpaying passenger.
