Last Month Was Driest So Far This Year

Only 1.88 i'nches of rain .fell in Levin during September, making it the driest month for this year. During the month rain fell on 12 days. It is some years since Levin has had s6 dry a September, the month being one in which lieavy spring rains can b.e expeeted. The rainfall for September, 1947, was 2.99 inches an-d in September last year it was 3.63 inches. Frosts were recorded on six days during the month, the heaviest being on the first, when one of six degrees was experienced. The second heaviest was last Friday when four degrees caught many early potato crops throughout the district. These figures were registered by Mr. H. Harvey, of Cambridge Street.
