In the final qf the Lieenged Vict^allers' Cup, Punahau juniors scorqd a wip by tfie narrgvy giri pf three points over Rahui qt Rpgby Park on Satui'day. The gamq, although ex.Qiting at times, was made dull by the evenpess of tfie teams. There was much hard play, more especially towards the conclusion of the seeond spell, and on some occasions it appeared as thoqgh the spectators were going tq jpin in. On the 4ay Punahau can credit their * victory to iuck, as Rahui wero, the most aggressive side. The failure of Rahui 's full-back •Iq accommodate his PQsition often rpade the task easigr for Pupahau. The serums were fairly eyep, bitt the Punahau backs held a definite advantage. There was pnly ope really good try. an'd that was scored for Punahau by Ngahona. Rahui were the first to score when, after a continued forward attack, Fox went over in a seramble. R. Giddens converted.. Punahau retaliated hard and ha.d' Rahui in danger on many occasions, but good combination saved the day temporarily. It was. not long, however, before Punahau scored, Heremaia going over for a try which went upconverte'd. 4 . After being two points behind at the end of the fisrt spell, Punahau put everything into an effort to take the lead, but it was nqt until about five -minutes before the final whistle blew that they succeeded. Rahui had been on the defensive throughout the' spell and weakened slightly at the critical stage. Ffom a scrum about ten yards inside Rahui's 25 Punahau hooked the , ball and the halfback went 5n the blind side to pass to Ngahona, who scored in a tackle.
