St. Joseph's Tennis Club Ready For Season
There was a good attendanee of nembers and intendlng members at tiae recent annual meeting of Jie St. Joseph's Tennis Club. The president, Mr. M. Sanders, was in the chair and an apology for absenee was received from thepatron, Rev. Father Lynch. Plans were made for the openLng ceremony, which takes pla^e at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow. The annual report and toalance sheet revealed a very- satisf actory state of affairs. Dming the- year a new court had been laid by tlie voluntary work of members, it siated. They had been helped to a great extent by the boys from the Levin Training Centre, whose services were very much . appreciated. The membership had shown ap increase and, from applications alrea,dy received there promised to be further addition's in the coming season. Office rs were elected as follows: —Patron: Rev. Father Lynch; president: Mr. M. Saunders; hon. secretary-treasurer: Miss M.- Clapeott; . .comniittee: Mrs. W. 'Galloway, Misses D. Galloway, JLynch, Ei' Matulich and B. Powell, aird Messrs A. Gray, E. 0'Brien, ,J. Sc Powell and K. Ryan. ... .. The retiring secretary-treasurer, Mr. Powell, who declined nomination for the office, was accorded a vote of thanks by acclamation for his untiring and successful efforts on behalf of the club. Two members, Mrs. A. Dalton and Mr. R. Baylis, who had given outstanding service to the club, were elected as life members.
