French Cabinet Faces Wage Crisis

PARIS, Sept. 28. France 's year old Coalition Cabinet is facing its gravest erisis as the resiilt of organised Labour's revolt against the Government 's wage freozing policy. M. Auriol, President of the Republic, returned to Paris overnight from his country residence to preside at a Cabinet meeting today. This followea late night talks by Ministers in an nttempt to break the deadlock between supporters of higher wages and those favonring "resistance to inflationary pressure. " Failing agreement it was belioved the Government might resign. The Radical Premier, Queuille, baoked by the Right Wing Finance Minister Petsche, is against any immediate wage bbost. Both believe prices can be held despite the recent devaluation. They are opposed within the Cabinet by the Socialists and popillar Republicans Who consider a limited concession unavbidable at least to the lowest paid workers.
