Officers Admit Wrecking New Liner
LONDON, Sept. 27. C'yril James Scnior, who was first officer of the liner Magdalena, which was wreeked near Ric De Janeiro in April, admitted in reply to questions at the Transport Ministry Inquiry today that ho should have stopped the ship or turned her to starboard or done both after reporting to the captain that the vessel was apparently half a ntile north of her course, Captain D. R. Lee, master of the Magdalena, told the inquiry that he ac cepted responsibility f or the accident. Captain Lee said that, having been told by the senior second offieer that all was well, he decidod to Stay in bed a little longer. He now regard&d that decision with regrefc Captain Lee added that he had expected to make two voyages in the Magdalena &nd thea yetire.
