Otaki Electorate Roll Shows Big Increase

Since the last general electiOn main roll was comphed in 1946 the number of electors in the Otaki eiectorate has increased by nearly 4,000. According to figures Supplied this mornihg by the registrar, Mr. H. J. Henderson, 3,741 names have been removed from the roll by death and transfers during the period between the compilation of the two roils. To counter this, however, 7510 names have been added. The .main roll is now in the hands of the printers and enrolments for ihe supplementary roll are now proceeding. • Bringing electoral rolls up to date for extra -polls has kept the staff at the Levin courthouse busy since February. Two temporary employees have been added to cope whh the work, which is of some magnitude. The main roil, for instance, took te'n days to type. The numbers on the new main roll go to 16,440.
