New Powers Proposed For Rabbit Boards

-o WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. Authority for rabbit boards to use postal voting for the taking of polls on 'proposals submitted to ratepayers, is contained in tlie Rabbit Nuisauce Auiendment Bill which was introduced and read-afiTst time in the Tlouse of Representatives today. Boards are 9J90 empowered to remit rates on the grounds of hardship. The Bill authorises rabbit boards to acquire land nnder a Public Works Act for the housing of their employees. The maximum borrowing power of boards in any one vear is inrireased from £3000 to £6000

and the total amount that may be borrowed by a board and outstanding at ' anv time, is increased from £6000 to £15,000. Another elause provides for the insuranee of menibers of the Rabbit Destruction. Council against personhl accident while engaged in offieial duties. Provision is also made for the exclusion of areas from rabbit ^.isftricts on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council.
