Big Basketball Contest On Saturday

^ The basketbail courts which adjoin the Otaki Textiles factory should present a busy and colourful scene on Saturday, when the annnual contest for the Soma and Daphne Cups will take place. Some 40 visiting players from Wellington will be in competition with the employees of the local factory's teams. The conditions governing the cups state that each one has to be won three years in succession before becoming the property of the competing teams. With each section having had two wins, the keenest competition is likely to eventuate when Saturday's games take place. The visitors arrive by train and games for the Daphne Cup, B grade section, will commence at 10.30 a.m. with the Soma Cup played for after lunch by A grade teams. Given good weather a pleasant day should result. Anyone interested is invited to attend and watch play.
