Pleasant Social Afternoon

Mesdames J. Gurney and D. McCready were joint hostesses for the final social afternoon held by the Otaki Croquet Club recently. The function took the form of a bridge and 500 afternoon, and' was held at the home of Mrs. Gurney, Waerenga Road. Gay spring blooms decorated the reception rooms and with a gorgeous "Otaki Sunshine" day, conditions were ideal. . . A delicibus afternoon ted, which was provided by '"club members, was partaken of during which the president, Mrs. M. Percival, thanked Mrs. Gurney for the use of her home for the occasion. Mrs. R. Young was successful in annexing the 500 prize, with Mrs. H. J. Whitelaw taking the bridge prize. Mrs. Gurney was wearing a two piece woollen suit with pink shoulder spray, and Mrs. McCready was in an eau de nil costume with wine -aocessories.
