Personal Mrs. D. C. Taylor, of Rangiuru Road, is on a holiday visit to Wellington. » Mrs. J. Royal, after visiting Waitara, Napier, Rotorua and Auckland, has returned to Otaki. Mr. Ted Fox, of Otaki Railway, has been transferre'd to Wellington and has taken up duties in his new sphere. Sister N. Cook, sub-matron of the Greymouth Hospital, is visiting her mother, Mrs. A. Cook, Rangiuru Road. Misses Pat and Pauline .Cook, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. E. Cook, of Rangiuru, have returned home after spending a delightful holiday in the' Southern glacial regions. The return trip was made by plane. Mrs. Grevis Goetz, wife of Squadron Leader Goetz and daughter of Canon H. E. K. Fry, of Otaki, has been confined to her home in Northland by sickness for the past two months. It will be two or three weeks yet before Mrs. Goetz is able to be about again. Vital Statistics BLK During the month of August, 16 births including four Maori, were notified to the registrar, Mr. C. G. Anderson, at Otaki, while deaths totalled four. One marriage licence was issiied. Card Evening Held BLK The Otaki Brass Band was again favoured with a pleasing attend- 1 anee when its fortnightly card evening was held on Tuesday night; Prizes were won by Mesdames' S.' Brooks, H. Cole and P. Cootes (firsts) and by Mrs. N. Flyger and Mr. R. Bills (seconds) . School Gala Day BLK Owing to many proposed counter attractions, a suitable date has been hard to find and a further meeting of persons interested in the Otaki State School gala _ day is to be held at 7.15 tonight. At this meeting it is hoped to definitely decide on the day on whioh the gala will be held, and arrangements will then proceed.
