Seventy British Athletes For Empire Games

Received Thursday, 10.30 a.m. LOND,ON,- Sept. 14. The Empire Games Council proposes to send about 70 competitors representing England in eight sports to the Empire Games at j Auckland next February. The sports are athletics, boxing, • cycling, fencing, rowing, swim- ■ ming, weight-lifting and wrestling. Seventy competitors_ wou'd represent a.bout one-third of the number required for a full team in all sports. To date only about nalf of the target sum of £20,000 for expenses has been raised.
