Children's Careless Habits On Roads Deplored

That children waiting for school buses congregated at corners and amused themselves by putting out their hands and trying to touch the cars as they passed by was mentioned by Cr. J. D. AiLchison •at the monthly meeting of the Horowhenua County Council yesterday. Not only was this a danger in itself and disconcerting to drivers, but the children also congregated on both sides of the roads and one never knew when they would decide to run across. He thought some supervision was necessary. Cr. D. K. Guy said the matter was one which the council should take up with the Automobile Association officer, who was "always very good when it came to educating school children about safety rules." Places mentioned by Cr. Aitchison where such incidents frequently occurred were north of Shannon and south of Potts Road. It was decided to refer the matter to the Automobile Association and traffic authorities.
