Wanted Man Takes to The Bush With Rifle
♦ — WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. A warrant for the arrest of Dorest William Bertie was issued in the Lower Hutt Magistrate 's Court today when he failed to appear on a charge of theft of £70, the property of Alfred Richard Drake. Detective-Sergeant Mason stated' that accused had been arrested at Akatarawa on Friday and after being eharged in the Upper Hutt Court, had been remanded on bail to appear at the Lower Hutt Court today. Accused was last seen on Friday when he disappeared in the dense bush of the Akatarawa Ranges after the police ajjproached his hut. The police stated he had taken a rifie.and ammunition with him. Accused, who is aged about 30, was wearing only a singlet, trousers and boots when he climbed through a back window 'of the hut and disappeared into the bush.
